Tirzepatide (Chinese-made)

Tirzepatide is a first-in-class dual GIP/GLP-1 (glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide/glucagon-like peptide-1) receptor agonist. Unlike single-target GLP-1 agonists, Tirzepatide activates both incretin receptors simultaneously, generating synergistic metabolic effects that surpass any single-pathway medication. Activation of the GIP receptor promotes fat oxidation in adipose tissue and improves lipid metabolism, while GLP-1 receptor activation suppresses appetite and enhances blood glucose control. In the landmark SURMOUNT-1 Phase 3 clinical trial published in The New England Journal of Medicine, Tirzepatide demonstrated up to 22.5% weight loss over 72 weeks, making it the most effective peptide-based metabolic agent studied to date. Additional research has shown improvements in hepatic lipid reduction (NASH), blood pressure, and triglyceride levels.
